This is my Local: It is the Cock Hotel on the Hollyhead Road in Wellington.
The Pub is a 17th Century Coaching in and has frequently been voted CAMRA Pub of the Year in both Local and National competitions having 8 handpulls, 7 ales and one still cider, plus a selection of premium Lagers and Ciders. There is also a good selection of Bottled Beers from around the World including Trappist Beers.
That is the reception area and that table on the right hand side is where I tend to sit if the bar is full.
The seven Ales have two permanent: Hobson’s Best Bitter at 3.8% and Hobson’s Mild at 3.2%, though during the month of May, the Mild is replaced by a guest Mild. The remaining ales range in styles and there is always a Porter or a Stout on and an ale above 5%. The beers come from a range of independent local and national Breweries and occasionally from some of the larger companies.
There is a good selection of bar snacks with proper Crisps, Scratchings and a good range of Peanuts, also be sure to purchase a Pork Pie, they are delicious, best served with some English Mustard.
The Hopstack, third from left, is a particularly nice beer.
And here is my friend Amy in the beer garden when she visited a few years back.
