If you could choose any person from history to be your imaginary friend, who would it be and why?

I sort of already did that. When I was 12 I had a dream I was having afternoon tea with Karl Marx, HG Wells and Homer… As in the poet Homer, not Homer Simpson.

I guess given a choice it would be either Noel Coward (a witty prompt would be great), Louis Armstrong, Peter Sellers or King Solomon (partially for the wisdom, partially to find out if his mines were real and if so where they are).

60s, 70s, 80s, 90s: Which decade do you love the most and why?

Well, my view point is probably shrouded by a perception which has been manufactured, but I will say the 1960s. It was a time of change, innovation and perhaps a sense of optimism which has been since been lacking. Things were changing as the shadow of Post-War Britain was retreating. But whether be the great diversity of music around; the Beatles, the Stones, Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Bernard Cribbens all had massive hits in the charts. Out of the mainstream things were being pushed musical and I just get the feeling people gave a damn.

When you die, what do you want to be remembered for?

I’d rather have a legacy of work and not become some figure to be subject of various interpretation. Let my word speak for itself as it were.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Having some unexpected downtime I guess, it just is nice to grab the odd extra day off and be able to go off timetable as it were.
