What would you name the autobiography of your life?
Ah this old chestnut. I think I’d have to do a George Melly and write separate volumes of autobiography focusing on different parts of my life. For the highs, lows and indifferences in my career in the Pub and Bar trade it would be a choice between The Publican Lark or Last Orders.
For my personal life and growing up I originally thought Lush Life, after the composition by the great Billy Strayhorn but now I am not so sure. Maybe A Foreign Country, as in the phrase “the past is a foreign country.”
Since I mentioned “Lush Life”, here is the cool stylings of West Coast Jazz Saxophonist Stan Getz getting his chops around it.
Which do you prefer sweet, salty or buttery?
I am very much into Salty and savoury tastes, I’ve never had an overly sweet tooth.
What’s the finest education?
Well not the one I got at the BRJ, that is for sure. I couldn’t really say as it is different for everyone but for me it has to be a mix of hands on reading up on a subject.
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
I enjoyed my day out with Heather at Blists Hill, plus an expected afternoon free meaning I got to see second set at Jazz Club 90. The band this week was JB’s Jazz and Blues Band and they were excellent at ever.
Oh yes and my new toy:
This made me laugh more then it should have:
