The Last Oasis

She looked upon the small pool of fresh water beneath her, if she was going to escape this hell hole this is where she needed to be. Any travellers heading to the city would have to pass here… There was no other source of fresh water until the city now. Her salvation would come through simple Geography and the needs of travellers. She was dishevelled in appearance, the hard track across the hostile terrain had taken its toll on her, her feet heavily calloused from her hike and her hair was knitted and greasey with sand very much part of the knots. She lay back under the shade of the tree and slept knowing her freedom would soon be returned.
