The Battle Hymn of the North Shropshire Sandman

No this isn’t going to a reappropriation of the “Glory Glory, Hallelujah” song (as the Battle Hymn of the Republic is known in some circles) to a Shropshire set of lyrics or anything like that.

I was wondering what, if anything, would my personal theme song  be? Being a man whose Brain immediately starts running down a number of music lists I would say I have come across a fair few songs/music which would be mere wishful thinking for me. So out would be “Bat Out of Hell,” “Hoochie Coochie  Man”, “Mr Blue Sky” or “Spread A Little Happiness As You Go By” and such… So I naturally turned to the Blues scene and whittle it down to either a song by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee or a Muddy Waters number.

Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee: Sporting Life

While not per se a fully accurate summery of my life, I have noticed thanks to Facebook’s Memory feed that things are passing by with some one of favourite haunts no longer about, old friends long moved off or partnered off, and more contemporary: the finalised sale and hand over of what has been my local watering hole for the majority of the last ten years. Certainly I wish the Landlord a happy and well earned retirement, but it is a reflection of times moving on and the old adage that you can never go back.

Of course, there is the other side, since I don’t really have too much I can solider on knowing I am since in the knowledge that you can’t lose what you ain’t never had.
