No, it was mandatory in my first three years of secondary school (ages 11-14)

i could not remember the term “secondary school”. what did they (intend to) teach in textiles class? everything I can think of would only be appropriate to an older, fashion focused, audience. i’m not aware of any similar class in the US.

Cool. I think most girls learned that from their mother in my time, because sewing clothes was common. But I think most guys don’t learn that, ever, unless they serve in the military.
