Day 5: Your Favourite Companion
Ah this is quite an easy one and in terms of gender balance I will be choosing my favourite male and female companions
Since I am a Brit, I shall follow my cultural tradition and insist on ladies first first.
My favourite female companion is the Timelady Romana, who was played by Mary Tamm and Lalla Ward
Romana was assigned to help the Doctor find the key to time and was fresh out of the Timelord academy and her posher and more educated approach was a good contrast to the jackdaw meanderings of the Doctor. After the season was over Mary Tamm left, and because the character was of the Doctor’s own race she was regenerated, with Lalla Ward taking on the characger and making her a much more light-hearted and easy going take on the character.
Favourite Male Companion
James “Jamie” Robert McCrimmon played by Frazer Hines. Jamie was a Jacobite who the Doctor encountered in the aftermath of the battle of Culloden. He joined the TARDIS crew and rapidly became a lovely and popular character, sometimes his ignorance of modern society is played for laughs by he is shown to be resourceful and intelligent through out. He accompanied the Second Doctor in all but one of his stories.
