Day 15: An Album from the 1980s

The 1980s, not really a decade or music that has really attracted my attention, I was too young to get any real interest in any particular artists and especially buy any albums. The excessive use of synthetic sounds has also meant that a number of the big hitters have not aged very well at all and all sound way too artificial.

So I am going to go with Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction. I recall having a ropey sounding bootleg copy I brought while on holiday in Spain, I knew about Guns N Roses because they were the beloved band of a puppet character on a Saturday Morning Kids magazine show called Parallel 9. I think the character was called Brian and was a purple dinosaur dressed like a Hell’s Angel and a little brother character who was the polar opposite, his slogan being “I’m born to be mild.”

Anyway back to the album it was initially overlooked on initial release in 1987 but was thrown into the limelight the following year thanks to a world tour.

  1. I think half of my listening is from the 80s and early 90s lol. Two albums that got me through that decade (after their release, of course) are AC DC Back in Black and Aerosmith’s Pump. So many great albums out that decade though, hard to pick really.
