The Monday Peeve (Late Again)

To start off, here is a reminder about what the Monday Peeve is all about:

Smiles and positive posts are all well and good, but sometimes I need to vent a bit. How about you? That’s what The Monday Peeve is all about, a chance to blow off a little steam at the beginning of the week, so then we can go merrily on our way once again (hah). I’ll pick a topic that’s on my mind, but you can vent about whatever you please, here in comments or on your own blog. Grab the photo, use the TMP tag, link back to me (or not), and Bob’s yer uncle.

My peeve for the week is a very specific one and I am hoping will strike a chord with my fellow bloggers.

Over Lockdown 2.0 here in Blighty I have been sorting the spare room and turning it into a reading-cum-guest room and have spent a considerable amount of time trying to organise my ever-expanding collection of books.

Ultimately there is going to be a bit of an issue with the size of the books aa different publishers have different dimensions for their products regardless if they are paperback or hardback, so there is an element of trying to get books of roughly the same size together on one shelf. No, this isn’t the peeve… My peeve is a habit that my dad has and I have been having it reinforced while sorting: he bends the books round on the spine and leaves face down, pages akimbo. Not gently resting, he pushes them down so he doesn’t lose his place. If putting a book down for a few moments I am sure with have left then face down a bit, but long term just a bookmark or be even more clever and just remember which page you were on!

Or… Do what was expected of pupils at my primary school, have a little book to write down what you are reading and record your progress aa you go…
