Dr Tanya presents a seasonal culinary theme for this week’s 5 Things.
5 Favourite Winter Soups
What better winter warmer than a steaming hot bowl of soup? It fills you up and warms the cockles of your heart.
This is indeed a fortunate prompt as Soup is one of my favourite foods, and had multiple opportunities for deployment within the diet.

1. Cream of Chicken Soup
A winter warmer that is something of a tradition in my family, often made on a Monday using unused Chicken and Stock from the Sunday roast, it is also an adaptable soup lending itself to embellishments while being a good dish in its own right.
2. Curried Parsnip
Anyone who knows me in person might be surprised at this because I am not a fan of Parsnip on its own, but as a soup and curried… Bonus points if topped with Parsnip crisps
3. Spiced Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper
Plenty of body and flavour here.
4. Broccoli and Stilton
5. Minestrone

That last ‘soup’ (as pictured in the image) might put me off eating soup permanently. 😉 Great choices you made, some of which I’d never heard of. Can you actually put Stilton cheese in soup over there? I guess it’s no more strange than our state-side ‘cheddar (non-specified) and broccoli” soup though.. Hmm.

Broccoli and Stilton is fairly common over here, particularly if you go somewhere with a Carvery
